Diddy Trial Day 14: An intense trauma bond, an R Kelly nightmare, and a vicious cross examination on Mia

Welcome to Day 14 of the Diddy trial
What’s going on y’all. We’re officially in week 4 of this Diddy trial.
Now apparently Mia wasn’t even supposed to appear on the stand again. She was actually gonna be heading home, (had her ticket booked and everything). But because one of Diddy’s lawyers, Brian Steel didn’t finish his cross examination, she had to stay an extra day. Rumor is the judge wasn’t happy.
So what happened? Well, today were discussing
Mia’s texts to Diddy
The defense’s response to Mia’s social media
Our personal thoughts about Mia’s testimony
Mia’s trauma bond with Diddy
Apparently Mia was sporadically texting Diddy despite their tumultuous business relationship. For example, around 2018 Mia hit Diddy up. Nothing too crazy, depending on who you ask, just wished him well on the holidays. She said “Merry Christmas love you so so much.” Ok.
Then on January 15, 2019 she hit him again saying she was thinking about him because she had a nightmare she was trapped in an elevator with R. Kelly and that Diddy saved her. Ok…
Now, if you remember, Mia already testified on Day 12 about how crazy her business relationship with Diddy was. I don’t wanna downplay Mia’s behavior towards Diddy because it clearly reflects the behavior of someone who experienced psychological abuse. But yes, it does look crazy. And let’s just say Diddy’s lawyer wasn’t gonna let her off easy without clocking that tea.
In fact, Brian Steel said that Mia sending Diddy “I love you texts” make it look like they had “almost a loving relationship.” Mia responded saying “I’m sending him support and love, yes.” Mia then goes into more detail and pretty much says that she always sought approval from Diddy because he was her only authority figure.
Mia then said that Diddy said he would tell Cassie about “everything” that happened between him and Mia. This is in connection with the sexual assault allegation that Mia testified about Diddy a few days ago. Apparently, Mia was worried that Diddy would tell Cassie because as she alleges, the way Diddy was phrasing it, it made it seem like Mia and Diddy had a fling, rather than Diddy assaulted her.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), we weren’t there so we’ll never know what happened. But what we do know is that despite all of these concerns, Mia’s actions towards Diddy didn’t change. In fact, on Diddy’s 44th birthday Mia sent a video to Diddy of her blowing a kiss and saying “I love you, happy birthday.”
The defense team strikes back hard
Diddy’s team wasn’t playing games with Mia. Once Judge Arun Subramanian allowed the video of Mia to be shown despite objections from prosecutors, they came straight for Mia. One of Diddy’s many defense attorneys specifically said that the video of Mia blowing a kiss to Diddy supports the argument that Mia is putting on a “a false persona” to the jury.
It’s tough to defend, but it does raise doubt which will get the jury thinking. Was Mia really assaulted by Diddy? Is Mia secretly jealous of Cassie and her relationship with Diddy? Does Mia secretly love Diddy?
But wait. It didn’t end there. The judge still warned Diddy’s lawyer Steel, that he was doing a little too much with his line of questioning. Basically, he was coming across a little combative and the judge caught on, saying that he was trying to get a reaction out of the jury instead of asking random questions.
A deeper dive into Mia’s social media posts
I ain’t gon lie. The defense really dove in to Mia’s social media. Apparently they showed more receipts. Particularly, a pic Mia sent to Diddy for his birthday in 2023 of the two of them together. This pic was sent just 10 days before Cassie filed her lawsuit against Diddy. The defense alleged that in 2024 Mia brought her allegations forward. Basically trying to insinuate like Mia saw Cassie’s lawsuit and then came forward right after.
My thought’s on Mia’s testimony
At face value, Mia’s testimony sounds a little crazy. Both due to what it sounds like she endured with Diddy, but also her actions towards Diddy after the fact. I think that when you look at her allegations, they kind of don’t reflect the communications she initiated with Diddy via text. And trauma bonding aside, I think the jury is going to pay close attention to that.
Sending kissy faces to your alleged abuser and coming back to work for him under more than one occasion despite being suspicious of being black balled in the entertainment industry? Despite confiding with Cassie who was also a known victim? Despite all the acts of sexual, physical, and emotional violence done towards you in the workplace? It either makes Mia complicit or further emphasizes just how unhinged Diddy truly is.
I think we’re gonna revisit Mia’s testimony as we continue Diddy’s trial. I mentioned this in an earlier post, but aside from Capricorn Clarke, Mia is one of the few assistants who have brought allegations against Diddy’s acts of violence towards her, rather than just Cassie. So we’ll have to see how this furthers claims that Diddy is a violent person. See you tomorrow.
Question: What did you think of Mia’s testimony?
